MALAYSIA CULTURAL TOURISM INDUSTRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

INSTITUTIONAL PROFILE

The Malaysia Cultural Tourism Industry Research Institute (MCTIRI) is an elite academic organization and strategic think tank authorized by the Registry of Societies Malaysia (JPPM/ROS) under the Societies Act 1966. Officially registered as Pertubuhan Kajian Industri Sosio-Budaya Dan Pelancongan Malaysia, the institute was formally established on 16 April 2025 with the registration number PPM-026-10-16042025.

MCTIRI is committed to driving the modernization and sustainable development of the cultural tourism industry in Malaysia and across Pan-Asia through rigorous academic research, international cultural exchange, cutting-edge technology, and profound industrial synergy. By integrating high-level policy vision with professional engineering precision, we bridge the gap between visionary research and practical industrial implementation to foster a resilient regional ecosystem.

CORE EXPERTISE: THE FOUR STRATEGIC PILLARS

1. Strategic Research

This pillar serves as the institute's primary intellectual engine, delivering comprehensive data-driven insights through the integration of global policy intelligence and forward-looking industrial forecasting. By conducting deep-dive analyses of regional tourism frameworks and socio-cultural impact studies, we provide the empirical foundation required to empower government decision-making and private sector investment. Our research output focuses on the publication of authoritative white papers and the formulation of long-term industrial master plans that ensure regional destinations remain competitive within the evolving global tourism economy.

2. Cultural Exchange

Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the region’s diverse socio-cultural heritage, this sector functions as a catalyst for international dialogue and regional synergy. We build cross-border platforms for cultural exchange and strategic project matching, fostering deep mutual trust across the Pan-Asian corridor to bridge the gap between traditional heritage and modern commercialization. By facilitating high-level networking and cultural diplomacy, MCTIRI ensures that cultural value and economic interests grow in a harmonious, sustainable ecosystem that celebrates local identity while achieving international recognition.

3. Education & Training

MCTIRI is committed to elevating global tourism professionalism by establishing high-level talent development systems that combine executive leadership programs with rigorous professional certification. Through academic-industrial synergy and specialized workshops for policymakers and senior planners, we establish international benchmarks for excellence in destination management and spatial design. Our curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and technical engineering practice, ensuring that the next generation of industry leaders is equipped with the global vision and technical precision required for modern market dynamics.

4. Smart Tourism (AI & AIGC Empowerment)

At the intersection of engineering precision and digital innovation, this pillar leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AIGC (Generative AI) to revolutionize the tourism landscape. Beyond deploying Digital Twin technology and IoT for smart destination management, we utilize Generative AI to empower cultural storytelling through hyper-personalized travel narratives and immersive virtual guides. By integrating AI-driven predictive analytics with tourism big data, MCTIRI develops cutting-edge solutions for sustainable infrastructure and digital asset management, ensuring technology serves as a native driver for industry-wide transformation.
